The overview

What owners are dealing with

You chose the Volvo V60 for a specific reason: it is one of the last true wagons sold in America that combines European practicality with a genuine safety pedigree. The badge promises Scandinavian engineering discipline, five-star crash ratings, and a cabin built for long-haul family life. What some owners have found instead is a car that nails the crash test but stumbles on reliability: a Sensus infotainment screen that goes dark at random, a V60 hatchback that won't stay open after a winter, and brakes that need replacement before the tires are half-worn.

The 2nd-generation V60 (2019-2026) rides Volvo's SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform, sharing its bones with the S60 sedan, XC60 crossover, and XC90. That shared architecture is both a strength and a liability: SPA's safety systems and rigid body structure are best-in-class, but SPA also shares a catalog of recurring software and mechanical shortcomings across the entire Volvo lineup. The Sensus infotainment freeze that plagues an XC90 owner in 2022 is the same flash-memory fragmentation problem documented in a V60 the year before.

Five NHTSA recalls touch the 2019-2026 V60. Two involve the brake control system in different ways: the 2019-2020 recall addressed AEB software that could fail to engage, and the 2023 recall addressed a BCM2 error that wiped out ABS, electronic stability control, and traction control simultaneously. There is also an active rearview-camera recall covering 2023-2025 cars. Beyond recalls, the V60's owner experience is shaped by issues that Volvo has addressed in technical service bulletins or warranty extensions without ever issuing a recall: premature front brake wear, Drive-E oil consumption, and infotainment instability. For California owners, these TSB-acknowledged defects can be as legally relevant as a formal recall. What matters under Song-Beverly is whether the defect exists, whether the manufacturer had notice, and whether the dealer fixed it.

Electrical System:Software RecallFunctional2019
Symptoms

warning light; recall notice; repeated dealer repair

Why it matters for your claim

This recall covers a software defect in the Vehicle Connectivity Module (VCM) that prevented the V60's telematics system from transmitting the vehicle's GPS location to emergency services. Volvo issued software correction R39917 beginning December 2018. If your 2019 V60 was presented for this recall repair and the dealer required multiple visits to complete the update, or if telematics-related symptoms (e.g., non-functional Volvo On Call, emergency call failures) persisted after the recall remedy, those visits count toward the 'reasonable number of attempts' required under Song-Beverly. Retain all recall repair orders.

Typical fix

Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will correct the software, free of charge. The recall began December 26, 2018. Owners may contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo's number for this recall is R39917.

Automatic Emergency Braking Non-Engagement — Recall 20V144000 (2019-2020)Safety2019-2020
Symptoms

brake pedal problem; reduced braking; unexpected braking; brake warning light

Why it matters for your claim

Recall 20V144000 (Volvo campaign R29998) covers a software/hardware incompatibility in the Active Safety Domain Master (ASDM) that could prevent the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system from detecting obstacles and engaging as intended. The remedy — an ASDM software update — was issued beginning April 9, 2020. Because this is a safety recall, any V60 that required multiple dealer visits to complete the ASDM update, or that continued to exhibit AEB warning lights or non-engagement after the recall fix, has a strong Song-Beverly claim: the defect is manufacturer-acknowledged, safety-critical, and repeatedly un-repaired visits are each a failed repair attempt.

Typical fix

Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will update the Active Safety Domain Master (ASDM) software, free of charge. The recall began April 9, 2020. Owners may contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo's number for this recall is R29998.

Low-Pressure Fuel Pump Failure - Stall or No-Start RiskSafety2019-2020
Symptoms

engine stalls while driving; vehicle will not start; loss of power; fuel pump recall

Why it matters for your claim

This recall covers 2019-2020 V60 vehicles where the low-pressure fuel pump fuse can blow and fail, causing the engine to stall while driving or refuse to start. Volvo's remedy (Recall R10100) was fuse replacement, with owner notification beginning July 2021. A stall at highway speed is a Safety-severity event. If your V60 stalled before or after the recall repair — or if the fuse failed again — each shop visit for the same symptom is a separate repair attempt. Song-Beverly allows recovery after two or more failed attempts for a safety defect.

Typical fix

Dealers will replace the fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 2, 2021. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-888-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10100.

BCM2 Diagnostic Error — ABS / ESC / Traction Control Loss — Recall 23V012000 (2023)Safety2023
Symptoms

brake pedal problem; reduced braking; unexpected braking; brake warning light

Why it matters for your claim

Recall 23V012000 (Volvo campaign R10217) covers 2023 V60 vehicles where a diagnostic error in the Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) can cause loss of ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control simultaneously. Volvo issued an over-the-air (OTA) BCM2 software update beginning March 2023. Loss of all three stability systems at once is a Safety-severity defect. If your V60 received the OTA update but the BCM2 warning lights returned, or if the OTA update failed to install and required a dealer visit, those events each represent a repair attempt under Song-Beverly. Owners should confirm the OTA was successfully applied and retain any dealer confirmation records.

Typical fix

Volvo will release an over-the-air (OTA) BCM2 software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 15, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10217.

Rearview Camera / Display FailureSafety2023-2025
Symptoms

backup camera blank; screen goes black in reverse; rearview camera distorted

Why it matters for your claim

Recall R10320 covers 2023-2025 V60 vehicles where the rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse — a federal safety defect because FMVSS 111 requires a functioning rearview camera on all post-2019 vehicles. Volvo's remedy is a software update (OTA or dealer). If your V60 has had the rearview camera software updated but the camera still fails to display, or if the screen continues to go blank in reverse after the recall remedy, each such visit is a failed repair attempt. Because this is a federally-mandated safety system, California courts have generally treated backup camera failures seriously under Song-Beverly.

Typical fix

The software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2025. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10320.

Sensus Infotainment Black Screen / Spontaneous Reboot / System FreezeFunctional2019-2024
Symptoms

infotainment screen goes black while driving; Sensus freezes mid-trip; system reboots without warning; navigation disappears; radio cuts out; backup camera inaccessible when screen is dark; Apple CarPlay drops connection; volume and steering-wheel controls stop responding during reboot cycle

Why it matters for your claim

Sensus infotainment failures on the V60 affect navigation, backup camera, and driver controls — systems that overlap with safety functionality. If the V60 has been to the dealer two or more times for a black screen, freeze, or reboot without a durable fix, that repair pattern may support a Song-Beverly claim because Volvo has had notice of the defect (TSB TJ31602) and has not produced a lasting repair. California courts have found repeated infotainment failures sufficient when they impair core vehicle functionality.

Typical fix

Reflash Sensus IHU to latest certified OEM software version via VIDA; replace IHU if black screen or freeze persists after two reflash attempts.

Drive-E 2.0L Engine (B5/T5/B6/T6) — Excessive Oil Consumption / Piston Ring Sealing FailureDrivability/Reliability2019-2022
Symptoms

blue or grey exhaust smoke at cold start; oil level warning before scheduled service; consuming 1 quart or more per 1,000-2,000 miles; low oil pressure warning; engine misfire under load; increased fuel consumption; burning smell from engine bay

Why it matters for your claim

Excessive oil consumption that triggers a low-oil warning before the next scheduled service interval is a drivability and reliability defect covered by the Volvo 4-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty. If the dealer has performed an oil consumption test and confirmed the defect but the repair has not resolved the problem — or if the V60 has returned for the same complaint multiple times — that pattern may establish the 'reasonable number of attempts' required under Song-Beverly. Owners should retain every oil-level check receipt and every repair order documenting the consumption test.

Typical fix

Perform Volvo-mandated oil consumption test (1,000-mile monitored interval); if consumption exceeds threshold, replace piston and ring assembly or short-block under powertrain warranty.

Aisin AWF8F35 8-Speed Automatic — Harsh Upshifts / Torque-Converter ShudderDrivability/Reliability2019-2024
Symptoms

harsh jolt or clunk on 1-2 or 2-3 upshift; shudder or vibration at light throttle between 35-50 mph; delayed or rough engagement from a complete stop; transmission hesitates before selecting a gear; clunk when shifting from Drive to Reverse; 'slipping' sensation under steady-speed acceleration

Why it matters for your claim

A transmission that jolts, shudders, or hesitates on repeated occasions is a drivability defect under Song-Beverly, even if each dealer visit results in a TCM software update that temporarily masks the symptom. If the V60's shift harshness or shudder has returned after a dealer repair, California law allows the owner to count that as a separate repair attempt. Two or more unsuccessful attempts to fix the same transmission symptom may satisfy the statutory threshold.

Typical fix

TCM software calibration update at dealer; transmission fluid service if overdue; valve body or solenoid replacement if harshness persists post-update.

Pilot Assist / City Safety — Phantom Braking / False Activation at Highway SpeedSafety2019-2023
Symptoms

sudden unexplained full braking with no obstacle in front; vehicle decelerates sharply from highway speed without driver input; Pilot Assist disengages with warning chime and automatic brake application; City Safety alert triggers on open road; near-rear-end collision caused by false activation; steering jerks when Pilot Assist misreads lane markings

Why it matters for your claim

An ADAS system that applies full braking without cause at highway speed creates an acute rear-end collision risk and qualifies as a safety defect under Song-Beverly, not merely a 'nuisance' functional issue. If the V60 has been to the dealer for phantom braking and the problem recurred, the owner should document every incident with date, speed, road conditions, and any dashcam footage. A Safety-severity defect with even a single unsuccessful repair attempt is highly relevant to a lemon-law evaluation.

Typical fix

ASDM software update via VIDA (revised radar signal-filtering algorithm); radar sensor alignment check; radar module replacement if phantom braking continues after software update.

Apple CarPlay Disconnects / Non-Functional — Wireless Drops and USB-C iPhone IncompatibilityFunctional2019-2024
Symptoms

Apple CarPlay drops connection while driving; wireless CarPlay fails to reconnect after reboot; CarPlay not detected after USB connection with iPhone 15 or later; Sensus shows 'Connection Error' for CarPlay; audio and navigation hand-off to iPhone fails; CarPlay randomly stops working after Sensus software update

Why it matters for your claim

Persistent CarPlay failure that recurs after multiple dealer software updates is a Functional-severity defect under Song-Beverly. While not safety-critical, repeated failures of a featured infotainment function — particularly where Volvo has acknowledged the issue in a TSB and provided a fix that does not last — can be included in a lemon-law claim alongside more serious defects to establish a pattern of non-conformity and cumulative days out of service.

Typical fix

For USB-C iPhones: dealer service per TSB 37070 (hardware USB-C circuit update). For wireless drops: Sensus IHU software update; delete and re-pair device profiles.

Premature Front Brake Pad and Rotor Wear — Vibration/Shudder Under BrakingSafety2019-2023
Symptoms

brake pedal pulsation or vibration at highway speeds; steering wheel shudder when braking; metallic grinding from front brakes before expected service interval; brake warning light illuminated; front pads worn to metal at 15,000-25,000 miles; rotor thickness variation causing brake judder

Why it matters for your claim

Brake pads wearing to metal before 25,000 miles — well under half the expected service life — constitute a safety-relevant non-conformity under the Volvo warranty. If the V60 has returned for the same premature brake wear after a pad replacement, the owner may have grounds for a Song-Beverly claim: Volvo has acknowledged the defect (SMB 51-002 warranty extension), and repeated replacements that do not cure the abnormally fast wear rate are failed repair attempts. Save all brake-service repair orders.

Typical fix

Replace front brake pads per TJ36202; measure and resurface or replace rotors if thickness variation exceeds VIDA spec; claim under SMB 51-002 warranty extension if within 3 yr/30,000 mi of original sale.

HVAC Blend Door Actuator — Clicking Noise / Temperature Zone Control FailureFunctional2019-2026
Symptoms

clicking or grinding noise from behind dashboard when adjusting temperature; heat stuck in one climate zone only; air conditioning not reaching passenger side; driver and passenger temperature controls produce no differential; noise worsens during initial HVAC startup in cold weather; dashboard disassembly required for access

Why it matters for your claim

HVAC failure that prevents dual-zone temperature control is a Functional-category defect under Volvo's warranty. While standing alone it is unlikely to support a lemon-law claim, a V60 that has also had repeated infotainment or other defects repaired may benefit from including HVAC failures in a cumulative days-out-of-service calculation. California Song-Beverly allows recovery when a vehicle is out of service for 30 or more calendar days in aggregate during the warranty period.

Typical fix

Diagnose failed actuator with VIDA diagnostic; replace blend door actuator motor PN 31348753; access requires significant dashboard disassembly (labor-intensive).

Rear Tailgate Lift-Support Struts — Premature Rust, Gas Pressure Loss, and Hatch DropFunctional2019-2021
Symptoms

tailgate drops or falls shut after being opened; hatch won't stay in raised position; visible rust on tailgate strut body after 1-2 winters; loss of gas pressure causes strut to collapse; power tailgate sinks several inches after reaching full-open position; struts fail before 3-year warranty expires

Why it matters for your claim

A tailgate that will not stay open poses a risk of injury — the V60's heavy liftgate can fall on the owner's head or hands. If the struts have been replaced under warranty and failed again within the warranty period, that is a repeated unsuccessful repair attempt under Song-Beverly. Owners whose struts failed just outside of the 3-year/36,000-mile window should contact Volvo directly given the known design defect acknowledged by the 2022 part redesign.

Typical fix

Replace both tailgate lift-support struts (always in pairs, ~$320 each); 2022+ redesigned part number recommended. Claim under factory warranty if within 3 yr/36,000 mi; request goodwill if just outside warranty given acknowledged design change.

Your rights in California

The Song-Beverly Act protects you

California's Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act — the state lemon law — provides some of the strongest protections in the country for vehicle buyers. If your 2019-2026 Volvo V60 has a defect covered by the manufacturer's warranty that has not been repaired after a reasonable number of attempts, you may be entitled to a full repurchase (buyback) or replacement vehicle at Volvo's expense, plus reimbursement of taxes, registration fees, and incidental costs.

The law presumes eligibility if: (a) Volvo or its authorized dealers have attempted to repair the same defect two or more times and the defect substantially impairs the vehicle's use, value, or safety; OR (b) the vehicle has been out of service for warranty repairs for a total of 30 or more calendar days.

For V60 owners, the most legally significant documented defects are the Safety-severity recalls (20V144000 / AEB non-engagement; 23V012000 / BCM2 ABS-ESC loss; R10320 / rearview camera). Under Song-Beverly, a safety defect requires fewer repair attempts to establish eligibility than a purely Functional defect. If your V60's AEB system failed to deploy in a real-world scenario, or if the BCM2 warning illuminated after the OTA fix, a single re-occurrence may be sufficient.

TSB-acknowledged defects — including the Sensus infotainment freeze, premature brake wear, Drive-E oil consumption, and AWF8F35 transmission harshness — are also covered by the Volvo warranty and fully eligible for Song-Beverly protection. The existence of a TSB is strong evidence that Volvo knew about the defect; repeated unsuccessful TSB-guided repairs are failed repair attempts.

Song-Beverly also covers certified pre-owned (CPO) V60 purchases within the CPO warranty period. If your V60 was purchased as CPO and developed a defect during the CPO warranty, the same rules apply.

Do this

If the dealer says they can't duplicate it

“Could not duplicate” doesn't mean the defect isn't real. Here's exactly what to do to protect a potential California lemon-law claim.

  1. 1

Document the moment it happens. Photos, video, and screenshots of any warning lights — with the date and the mileage.

  2. 2

Get a repair order every visit — even “found nothing.” That paperwork is the foundation of a claim.

  3. 3

Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Note any recall that has no available remedy yet.

  4. 4

Track your out-of-service days. California law counts the cumulative days your vehicle spends in the shop.

  5. 5

Keep loaner & rental records. Alternate-transport paperwork during long repairs matters.

  6. 6

Save everything in one place. Symptoms, dates, repair orders, and every repeat visit — the intermittent ones especially.

For your Volvo V60 specifically

Volvo dealers have been known to close V60 repair orders with 'Could Not Duplicate' on infotainment, phantom-braking, and transmission complaints that are intermittent by nature. Here is what to do:

1. DOCUMENT EVERY EVENT BEFORE THE DEALER VISIT. For infotainment black screens: photograph the dark display with your phone immediately — include the time, speedometer, and any warning lights. For phantom braking: note the exact date, time, road conditions, speed, and whether Pilot Assist was engaged. For brake vibration: video the steering wheel shake during braking.

2. INSIST ON A WRITTEN DIAGNOSIS. When you hand over the car, tell the service advisor the exact symptom, the frequency, and how you reproduced it. Ask them to write down your description verbatim on the repair order. If they write only 'customer states screen is black' and close it as 'no fault found,' that is still a repair attempt under California law — the V60 was in for this problem.

3. CITE THE TSB BY NUMBER. For infotainment: ask specifically whether TJ31602 has been applied and whether the IHU software is current. For brake vibration: ask about TJ36202 and SMB 51-002. For AEB/phantom braking: ask about the ASDM software version. Dealers who are unaware of a TSB can look it up in VIDA.

4. REQUEST A CALLBACK ON EVERY OPEN REPAIR ORDER. If the dealer says 'we need to keep it longer to catch the fault,' ask for a loaner vehicle in writing (Volvo's warranty provides free loaners for warranty repairs). Every day the V60 sits at the dealer counts toward your 30 cumulative days out of service.

5. TRACK YOUR CALENDAR DAYS OUT OF SERVICE. California's Song-Beverly Act allows a rebuttable presumption of lemon eligibility if the car has been out of service for 30 or more calendar days in aggregate during the warranty period. Keep a running log: drop-off date, pick-up date, and the claimed reason for each visit.

6. DO NOT ACCEPT 'SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPLETED' AS FINAL. For any software-based defect (infotainment, ASDM, BCM2), ask the dealer to confirm the specific software version number installed, and note it on the repair order. If the same symptom recurs after an update, that is a new — and failed — repair attempt.

7. ESCALATE TO VOLVO CUSTOMER CARE. Call 1-800-458-1552 and open a case number before your third dealer visit for the same complaint. That call creates a manufacturer-level paper trail separate from the dealer's records.

Our take

The 2019-2026 Volvo V60 is a genuinely excellent car undermined by software immaturity and a few mechanical patterns Volvo has been slow to resolve. The Sensus freeze is the defining complaint: widespread, known since 2019 (TSB TJ31602), and the IHU reflash fix often doesn't hold. The brake wear pattern is arguably worse — pads worn to metal before 25,000 miles on a car marketed around safety is a credibility problem, and Volvo's SMB 51-002 warranty extension is an implicit admission. The Drive-E oil consumption issue on 2019-2022 engines requires owners to actively monitor oil between services. Volvo addresses most problems reactively via TSBs rather than recalls. For California owners, TSB acknowledgment plus repeated dealer visits equals a potential Song-Beverly claim.

FAQ

Volvo V60 lemon-law questions

Why does my Volvo V60 Sensus screen keep going black or rebooting while I'm driving?

This is the most widely reported issue on the 2nd-generation V60. Volvo acknowledged the defect in Technical Journal TJ31602 (August 2019), attributing it to software instability in the Integrated Head Unit (IHU) following OTA or dealer software updates. The screen can go dark for several seconds and then restart, taking navigation, backup camera, and CarPlay offline in the process. Volvo's fix is to reflash the IHU to the latest certified software version using the VIDA diagnostic system. If your dealer has already reflashed the unit and the black screen or freeze has returned, that counts as a failed repair attempt. Request the specific IHU software version number on your repair order and ask whether the latest Sensus firmware is installed. If the V60 has been to the dealer two or more times for this same complaint, it may meet the California lemon-law threshold.

Is there a recall on the Volvo V60 for brake problems?

Yes — there are two distinct brake-related recalls on the 2019-2026 V60. The first, NHTSA Recall 20V144000 (Volvo campaign R29998), affects 2019-2020 V60 models and addresses a software/hardware incompatibility in the Active Safety Domain Master (ASDM) that could prevent the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system from detecting obstacles and engaging. The remedy is an ASDM software update. The second, NHTSA Recall 23V012000 (Volvo campaign R10217), affects 2023 V60s and covers a diagnostic error in the Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) that can simultaneously disable ABS, ESC, and traction control; Volvo issued an over-the-air BCM2 software update beginning March 2023. A separate non-recall issue — premature front brake pad wear at 15,000-25,000 miles — is covered under Volvo Service Manager Bulletin SMB 51-002, which extended brake-pad warranty coverage to 3 years or 30,000 miles. If your V60 has had brake warning lights return after a recall fix, or front brakes worn prematurely more than once, keep all repair orders and consider a lemon-law evaluation.

My Volvo V60 brakes suddenly for no reason — is that normal, or is it a defect?

This is not normal and it is a documented defect. The V60's Pilot Assist and City Safety forward-radar system can misidentify overhead infrastructure — bridges, highway signs, guardrails — as collision threats and apply full braking force without any obstacle actually present. This is distinct from the AEB non-engagement recall (20V144000); that recall addressed cases where AEB failed to fire; the phantom-braking pattern is the opposite — the system fires when it should not. Volvo's remedy is an ASDM software update to improve radar signal filtering, followed by a sensor alignment check. If the phantom braking has occurred more than once and your dealer's ASDM update has not resolved it, document every event with date, time, speed, and road conditions. A safety defect that produces unexpected hard braking on the highway is one of the most straightforward lemon-law scenarios under California Song-Beverly — even a single unresolved safety repair attempt carries significant legal weight.

Does the Volvo V60 have oil consumption problems?

Yes, this is a documented concern on 2019-2022 V60 models with the 2.0L Drive-E engine (T5, T6, B5, and B6 variants, all classified as Engine Code 61). Volvo issued Technical Journal TJ34588.2.0 in April 2019, acknowledging high oil consumption and providing a protocol for oil consumption testing and repair. The root cause is piston ring sealing degradation that allows oil to migrate into the combustion chamber and burn off. Symptoms include blue or grey exhaust smoke on cold start or under hard acceleration, and an oil level warning appearing well before the scheduled service interval. The remedy — a short-block or piston/ring assembly replacement — is covered under Volvo's 4-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty. Note: a 2013-2016 Drive-E class action (Buchanan v. Volvo) was settled in 2023 but did not cover 2019-2022 engines. If your V60 oil consumption test confirmed the defect but the powertrain repair has not resolved the problem, that is a failed repair attempt under Song-Beverly.

Why does the Volvo V60 hatch keep falling down, and is this covered by the warranty?

This is a widely reported issue specific to 2019-2021 V60 wagon models. The rear tailgate uses gas-pressure lift struts that are prone to internal corrosion because of how they were mounted on those model years — water pools inside the strut housing during wet or winter weather, degrading the gas seal and eventually causing the strut to collapse. A failing strut will cause the heavy liftgate to sink or fall shut after opening. Volvo redesigned the strut mounting orientation for 2022+ models specifically to prevent this problem. If your 2019-2021 V60 hatch is dropping, both struts should be replaced in pairs (approximately $320 each). Volvo's 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty covers the repair if you are within that window. Owners just outside of warranty have successfully requested goodwill replacements by pointing to the known design change as evidence of a manufacturing defect. If the struts have been replaced under warranty and failed again, that is a separate repair attempt toward a potential lemon-law claim.

How many repair attempts does it take for my Volvo V60 to qualify as a lemon in California?

Under California's Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, the law creates a rebuttable presumption of lemon eligibility if: (a) Volvo or an authorized Volvo dealer has attempted to repair the same defect two or more times and the defect 'substantially impairs the use, value, or safety' of the vehicle; or (b) the V60 has been out of service for warranty repairs for a cumulative total of 30 or more calendar days. For Safety-severity defects — such as the AEB non-engagement recall (20V144000), the BCM2/ABS-ESC loss recall (23V012000), or the phantom-braking pattern — even two repair attempts that fail to resolve the issue can be sufficient. For Functional defects like infotainment freezes or premature brake wear, two or more failed attempts also meet the statutory threshold. 'Repair attempt' includes any visit where the V60 is presented for a warranty complaint, even if the dealer closes it as 'no fault found' — that still counts. California law requires Volvo to pay attorney's fees if you prevail, meaning lemon-law representation is typically available at no upfront cost to the consumer. This is general information, not legal advice.
