Volvo Cars Announces Global Recall for Braking Issue
A Volvo Cars spokeswoman announced that the company is recalling around 106,900 vehicles globally due to a potential braking issue.
Models Affected and Brake Control Module Problem
The C40, XC40, S60, V60, XC60, V90, and XC90 models are among those whose 2023 models are being recalled. According to the study, a diagnostic mistake in a brake control module might lead to problems with the antilock braking system, electronic stability control, and traction control.
Risk of Accidents and Supplier Manufacturing Fault
A decrease in brake assistance functions may raise the likelihood of an accident according to the paper. However, in this case, Volvo attributes the issue that prompted the recall of 74 cars in the US and 7 cars in Canada to Robert Bosch Automotive Steering. More specifically, two screws were fed onto one another due to a manufacturing fault at the supplier screw assembly station.
Steering Wheel Lock-up and Critical Concern
A screw that falls into the gearbox case could cause the steering wheel to lock up, increasing the likelihood of a collision. The Critical Management Team categorized this concern as critical on December 21st, 2022, according to records submitted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Recall Decision and Supplier Notification
Volvo Cars verified the Field Service Action decision on December 28th. On the other hand, the supplier notified the manufacturer of the problem on September 2nd.
