The case

A clunk the dealer couldn’t kill — four wheel bearings, a control arm and a sway bar on a new EQS

Our client leased a new 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS 450. Four months in, a clunk from the front and rear over bumps and rough roads sent it to the dealer.

Technicians found all four wheel bearings noisy and replaced them. Two or three days after pickup the front clunk returned. Using chassis microphones, the dealer traced it to the left front upper control arm and replaced it. Months later the noise came back again, this time from the front sway bar bushings, and the sway bar was replaced.
